What is the timber finish on your letterboxes made from?Updated 2 months ago
Our timber-look letterboxes do not use a timber powder coat finish. Instead, the timber effect is achieved through a special liquid paint application on galvanised steel.
✅ Not real wood – the surface is steel, not timber.
✅ Not powder coating – unlike our solid colour finishes, the timber effect is created using liquid paint techniques to mimic the grain and tones of natural timber.
✅ Durable finish – applied to galvanised steel for strength, weather resistance, and long-lasting performance.
✅ Low maintenance – you enjoy the look of timber without the upkeep of real wood.
Why not use real wood or powder coating?
Real timber is not as weather-resistant, can warp, crack, or fade outdoors, and requires regular upkeep.
Powder coating works best for uniform colours (e.g. black, white, charcoal). It does not reproduce the detailed grain and multi-tone look of wood.
By using liquid paint over steel, we achieve a realistic timber appearance while maintaining the durability and security you expect from a Dagood letterbox.
